Wine Characteristics :
This wine is intense and complex with plum, sweet spice, florals, liquorice and violets. The palate is medium bodied and smooth with fine tannins. The flavour is intense and lingers, a delicious wine!
This was the first variety we planted as a family to combat climate change and future proof our vineyard, if climate predictions hold true. Hailing from Portugal, it is considered portugal's highest quality wine grape. Known for producing the finest fortified wines and also dry table reds capable of ageing similar to Cabernet Sauvignon, yet without the harsh tannins young Cabernet often have. It is incredibly versatile and also extremely hardy. It is very heat tolerant, drought tolerant and very late ripening making it ideally suited to the long hot and dry summers of the Barossa Valley. When we first tried this variety we were captivated by the complex and delicious flavours and knew it would be a great addition to our vineyard and a wine that would be throughly enjoyed.
